What to Expect

  • At your first visit, please arrive a few minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time so we can make sure all paperwork is on order.
  • Make sure to bring all of your pet’s previous medical records to your visit.
  • We recommend that all puppies and kittens have a fecal sample checked at their first visit.
  • It’s always best to prepare a list of questions you have for the doctor ahead of the appointment.

Tips for making your pet's visit less stressful:

We understand that most pets are scared when they come to the vet. We strive to make this as easy as possible for both you and your pet. Remember, your pet is not trying to embarrass you. They are just reacting to fear.

If you have any concerns about your pets’ behavior, please let us know when making the appointment.

Cats should always be in carriers. There are pheromone sprays that work well to keep cats calm during transport. We also recommend that you do not place the carrier on the ground, as seeing other pets may upset the cat more. If your cat still seems very stressed, there are anxiety medications, we can prescribe to make the next visit less stressful.

Dogs should always be on a NON-retractable leash. Always try to be aware of other pets around you. Try not to let your dog interact with other pets in the lobby. Not only can that be stressful for your pet, but it could also stress the other pet. Also, some pets are at the vet because they are ill. Letting your pet interact with a sick pet could mean yours may get sick as well.

“Happy Visits” are great for dogs that get anxious at the vet. No appointment is needed. Just stop by and say hello. Give your pet a treat and then return home. The pet will remember that as a happy experience. Just remember to check to see who is in the lobby before entering.

If training doesn’t help, we do have medications we can use to help your pet relax during appointments. You will have to give them ahead of time, so please make sure to mention that when making your appointment.
